In May this year, the NSW State Government advised Sportsbet.com.au that the operation of the Betbox would not be regarded as contravening NSW gaming and wagering laws. The recent introduction of amendments to the Unlawful Gambling Act 1998 (NSW) which were rushed through Parliament without consultation with Sportsbet.com.au and to our knowledge, the hotel and club industry in NSW, will prohibit Sportsbet.com.au from providing NSW hotels and clubs with a wagering betbox. The provisions of the Act will commence on December 31 2010.
